Last Train 03:16
Could be the only one waiting for you Could be the only one waiting for you Be the light at the end of the tunnel Waiting like the last train, waiting like the last train I could be rolling over in my grave Lost at sea amongst the waves Cast away on the face of the moon You know I‘m gonna come through, still I’m gonna come through Well if I were the last train coming ‘round If I were the last train coming ‘round Climb on board, I'd say climb on board You know I‘m gonna come through, still I‘m gonna come through

Soon be Saturday night, with a girl that shines Got the long blonde hair and a smile that knows Well, the mirror says yes and my feet say go Out on Saturday night, too soon come Sunday morning I been working all week - like a moth to the flame Well, so it goes, that’s how time slips away Least I got Saturday night - keep my Mondays at bay You make a boy feel pride, girl And pride don’t come cheap Like a bird in the hand, girl Like it’s sunny for a week Would you walk along, would you stroll a while? While the weather is kind, we’ll walk along in style My shoes are my only carriage, so if you ain’t tired We could go on home - meet the Sunday morning You make a boy feel pride, girl And pride don’t come cheap Like a bird in the hand, girl Like it’s sunny for a week Would you walk along, would you stroll a while? While the weather is kind, walk along in style My shoes are my only carriage, so if you ain’t tired We could go on home - meet the Sunday morning We could go on home - meet the Sunday morning

You said you hurting, almost lost your mind The man you love mistreat you all the time When things go wrong, go wrong with you - it hurts me too He loves another woman, and I love you But you stand beside him, and take all his mess When things go wrong, go wrong with you - it hurts me too You said you hurting, almost lost your mind But you stand beside him, and take all his mess When things go wrong, go wrong with you - it hurts me too You better leave him, or you better put him down You know I just can't stand to see you messed around When things go wrong, go wrong with you - it hurts me too You said you hurting, almost lost your mind The man you love treat you so unkind When things go wrong, go wrong with you - it hurts me too

about

I held a residency at The Blues Kitchen, Shoreditch, in East London from May '14 until August 20, 2021. This is a recording from my final night there.

This album is a great opportunity to acknowledge the end of that long run, but also - it's a chance to do a couple of other things. Of these ten songs there's two tracks from each of my previous releases and six covers.

With the six that I wrote this is a good chance to explore those tracks in a different setting and hear how they've evolved over the years, and with the four covers it's been great to be able to have songs that I've known and loved and played for years find a home on an album.
